Smoking Woods

If you are cooking with wood only and you are having trouble lighting, cooking, or with excess smoke, then your moisture content may be too high in your wood.

Green Mesquite wood will contain approximately 48% moisture and Green Hickory or Pecan Wood will contain approximately 78% moisture. Mesquite Wood is more dense than Hickory or Pecan Wood.

Would should be throughly cleaned and dried before packaging to eliminate insects and excess moisture.

CHUNKS

Chunks are about a 2" x 3" piece of wood. They are the primary product produced by a chunking machine. They go through 3 different cleaning processes.

CHUNKER CHIPS

Chunker chips are the screenings or by-product of the chunks. they are irregular in size 2" to 3" long by 1/2" thick.

CHIPS

True chips are about 1" square by 1/8" thick. The chips are made with a large Morbark Chipper with one of the cleaning systems attached. During the sacking process these chips are cleaned two more times.
